Rethink Your Ride

This project showcases an interactive display aimed at promoting sustainable transport in urban areas. This project seeks to address the low percentage of household trips made using public transport or alternative means of transportation. Our interactive display will be placed in malls to encourage and educate people on the benefits of using sustainable transport options, with the goal of improving this statistic.

This collaborative effort involved a team of two, with one member focusing on creating the illustrations and artwork, and the other member in charge of the coding.I took charge of the illustrations, working closely with my partner to bring our vision to life. We are excited to showcase the combined talents and skills that went into bringing this project together.


New Zealand is a car-dependent country, with only 20% of household urban transport being taken on public transport or through walking or cycling. This has negative impacts on the environment, through greenhouse gas emissions and effects on individual's mental and physical health.

Using colour to communicate and symbolise the effects of transport on the environment, green represents a brighter, cleaner and more sustainable future, with grey representing a more polluted and unpleasant future. As you travel from your house to work in the city, these visual changes can be seen with increased use of either a car or bike.

We understand that changing to more sustainable transport is a difficult task, as private car use is generally more convenient for everyday use. However, through the use of our interaction, we hope to show you how your own transport choices can impact the environment. You have the ability to make change.
